Editing drawing imported to Joplin from Evernote.

Short answer: there’s no direct way to edit Evernote handwritten drawings inside Joplin the way you could in Evernote—but there are a few solid workarounds depending on what you want.

🧠 Why this is tricky

Evernote stores handwriting/drawings as editable ink objects (especially if made with stylus tools like Penultimate or built-in sketching).

Joplin treats imported content as static images (PNG/JPEG), not editable drawings.

So once imported, your sketches become just images.

✅ Your options

  1. ✏️ Edit externally (best overall workaround)

You can:

  1. Export or copy the image from Joplin

  2. Edit it in a drawing app

  3. Re-import it into Joplin

Good apps for this:

Samsung Notes (great if you have an S Pen)

Microsoft OneNote (supports ink editing)

Sketchbook

👉 This is the closest you’ll get to “real” editing again.

  1. 🧩 Keep Evernote just for drawings

If you still need to edit old sketches:

Keep Evernote installed

Edit drawings there

Export updated images to Joplin

This avoids losing the original editable format.

⚠️ What you cannot do

Convert Evernote handwriting → editable Joplin drawings ❌

Edit imported sketches natively inside Joplin (mobile or desktop) ❌

👍 Best practical setup (recommended)

If you’re on Android:

Draw in Samsung Notes or Sketchbook

Export/share → attach to Joplin note

Keep source file in case you need to edit later

If you want, I can help you set up a smooth workflow with rclone + Joplin + a drawing app so your sketches sync automatically with your notes.
